Korean Pop (K-Pop)
I have learnt a great deal from the theory of this course. It has let me explore one of the artefacts I enjoy greatly, which is K-Pop. I have been listening to K-Pop for 2 years now, but have never been one of those die -hard fans. Because of everything I've learnt this year its started to change quite a bit, and I might being seeing my Favourite band BTS backstage next year with one of my friends from work. K-pop brought us together and shes the closest friend I have. The first person I met in this advertising course was Alayna Cartz and we also bonded over K-Pop! It really goes to show you have a simple community can open to new communications.'
K-Pop is such a crazy phenomenon to me, as all the background work that goes into it, is not something that we see commonly in Australia. I learnt that Korea is the most popular place to plastic surgery now, specialising in Nose Jobs, Jaw Reconstructions and Double Eyelid Surgery. In Korean culture, the face tells a story, and the population in general care greatly about their looks in order to find a partner and seek professional work.
In girl K-Pop groups, all the members undergo surgery to look the same...

...whereas in boy groups, all the boys look different (hair colour, clothes, personality traits and different types of singing)

I reckon at the end of the course, if I got a job revolving around K-Pop I would be happy, regardless of the controversy surrounding it.
